How do I connect to my Mission Bike Lights to change settings?

+

You have three options to control your Mission Bike Lights and others in the mesh:

1. iOS App - Download our app from the App Store for the best experience with Bluetooth auto-connect.

2. Mesh WiFi Portal - Connect to the "MissionBikeLights" WiFi network. A captive portal will automatically open where you can control all lights in the mesh.

3. Android Control Page - Use our Web Bluetooth control page in Chrome on Android devices.

How do I disable the captive portal pop-up so I can use the iOS app via WiFi?

Once connected to the "MissionBikeLights" WiFi, you have two options:

Option 1: When the captive portal opens, scroll down to Node Settings at the bottom of the Programs page and disable "Captive Portal".

Option 2: Dismiss the captive portal by tapping the "X" at the top, choose "Use without Internet", then launch the iOS app and disable the captive portal in the Settings tab.

Why do my Mission Bike Lights flash different colors? What are they telling me?

+

Your lights are trying to tell you something! And boy do they have a lot to say!:

  • Blue LEDs flashing periodically - This light is the mesh leader. The number of LEDs indicates how many other lights are connected.
  • All LEDs flash blue once - A Bluetooth connection was just made.
  • All LEDs flash green once - A new WiFi connection was made (either a device like an iPhone, or another Mission Bike Light joining the mesh).
  • All LEDs flash green 3× after boot - OTA update check was successful, no update needed.
  • All LEDs flash red 3× after boot - OTA update check wasn't successful. Don't worry, we'll try again on next boot!
  • Cyan droplet filling from bottom - OTA update download in progress.
  • All LEDs flash green 5× - OTA update downloaded and applied successfully!
  • All LEDs flash red 5× - OTA update failed to apply and will need to be redownloaded.
  • Yellow filling from bottom - Manual firmware upload in progress.
  • Green droplet filling (receiver) / draining (sender) - Mesh firmware push in progress between nodes.

Can I use any battery with my Mission Bike Lights?

+

Yes, as long as the battery can supply the right power for your kit type:

Standard Adhesive Frame Kits and Poles:
Look for a battery labeled "5V at 3A" or higher. If your battery supports less than 3A, you can adjust the power settings in the Node Settings menu to match your battery's capacity. This will dim the brightest portions of programs to reduce power draw.

UltraBright Adhesive Frame Kits and Poles:
These require a battery that supports "20V at 3A". If your battery doesn't support 20V, it will not work. If it supports 20V but at less than 3A, you can adjust the power settings in the Node Settings menu.

How many lights can connect in a mesh?

+

Mission Bike Lights can form a mesh network with dozens of lights. They automatically discover each other and sync their patterns when in range. The more lights in your group, the more spectacular the synchronized light show!

Can I use Mission Bike Lights on things other than bikes?

+

Absolutely! While designed for bikes, Mission Bike Lights work great on strollers, scooters, wheelchairs, golf carts, art cars, and more. Check out our Installation Guide for mounting instructions for different setups.

Are Mission Bike Lights waterproof?

+

Mission Bike Lights are ready for Karl the Fog, but they are not waterproof. While they can handle light mist, we recommend protecting them from rain. If they do get wet, dry them as soon as possible.

How do I update the firmware?

+

Mission Bike Lights can update automatically! Here's how:

Automatic OTA Updates: When connected to a WiFi network with internet access, your lights will check for updates on boot. Configure your home WiFi credentials in the iOS app or web portal Settings.

Mesh Distribution: Once one light in your mesh has the latest firmware, it can push the update to other lights in the mesh automatically.

Manual Upload: You can also upload firmware manually through the web portal if needed.
